About / Dental FAQS

Should I use an electric toothbrush?
It definitely helps by removing plaque from those hard to reach places ordinary manual toothbrushes would miss. Remember that you still need to include daily flossing and pixtering as part of your dental care routine.
Do you fix dentures?
Absolutely, we believe in only using the best dental labs to ensure that that quality of work produced for our patients is the best – we can help by facilitating the repair of your dentures with using our highly recommended dental labs.
How can I get my teeth whitened?
There are a number of techniques that can be used by our dentists to help you achieve that whiter, brighter smile. Contact our lovely team to book in for a consultation to go through the process with you.
How often should I come in for a check up?
Every patient’s need is different, on general we recommend that patients visit us every 6 months for their regular oral health visit. The earlier our team identifies a problem, the less difficult and expensive they are to treat. Even though you may feel that nothing hurts in your mouth, pain is a really poor indicator as to whether there is a problem. In some instances with a patient that is at high risk for caries and periodontal disease the dentist may want to see you every 3 months.
How much does an extraction cost?
Not all extractions are the same. The price can vary depending on the difficulty of the extraction. It’s best to book in to see our expert team for a consultation and a more thorough costing on the procedure.
What age should I bring my child in for their first dental visit?
Our philosophy at Alice St Dental is of creating long lasting relationships, we believe that bringing children in from as early as 2 years of age can help identify the dental practice with positive affirmations. It also helps our team assess and educate on certain habits your child might have that could result in poor development.
What happens on my first visit

When you arrive, we’ll ask you to fill out a short medical history form. This ensures we have the necessary information to give you treatment that’s most suitable for your needs. Our friendly staff will be at hand to answer any questions that you might have.

Your dentist will carry out a thorough assessment of not just your teeth but surrounding soft tissues as well. Depending on your needs, we may take x-rays, photographs, and/or impressions. Depending on your core values, your dentist will explain the results of your assessment and develop a treatment plan suited for you. We’re always happy to discuss any questions you might have about your treatment plan, so don’t hesitate to ask!
